At Zil Distribution, artists are added at the Track level. The primary artists for the Album will be automatically selected by our system based on the Track information. Follow these steps to add your artists:
Navigate to Tracks: Start by going to the Tracks section within your new Project. Here, select Collaborators and press the Add Collaborator button.
Using the Collaborator Search: A modal window will open with a search bar. You can look up an existing artist by entering their name or email. If they already have an account on Zil Distribution, simply select them from the results.
Inviting New Artists:
If the artist doesn’t have an account yet, click on New Collaborator at the bottom left of the modal. You will have two options:
Invite New Artist: This option is for artists who will have primary roles, such as Main Artist or Featuring, or who will participate in the Auto-Split. Inviting them to our system requires detailed information, including their email.
Add Guest Artist: Use this option for collaborators who will appear in credits, such as Producer or Songwriter, and are not expected to be Main Artists or part of the Auto-Split in the future.
Filling Out the Artist Form: After selecting the appropriate option, a form will appear with the following fields:
Artistic Name: The name displayed in stores.
Full Name: The legal name, used in credits depending on the role.
Email: An invitation will be sent to this email if the artist is being invited for Auto-Split access.
Spotify URI and Apple ID: Required for artists who have already released music. For new artists without these links, select Create new profile to generate their links.
Complete the Invitation: Once all details are filled out, click Invite Artist. The artist will then be added to the track.
Remember, artist creation only needs to be done once. The next time you want to add the artist to a release, you’ll simply need to search for them by their artistic name, full name, or email.
This process keeps everything organized and ready for distribution, allowing for a smooth setup without unnecessary complications.
